Alexander Mackenzie was the second Prime Minister of Canada, serving from 1873-1878, and the first to be of the Liberal Party.
Mackenzie became Prime Minister following Sir John A. Macdonald's resignation in the wake of the Pacific Scandal, winning a landslide majority in the following election. His government established the Supreme Court of Canada and the Royal Military College of Canada.
