—Charlie Josephs, to Marcie, angered by Audrey quitting unannounced and sabotaging his plans to murder her
Charlie Josephs[1] was a Canadian serial killer, rapist, and necrophile of the 20th century. Over decades, Josephs would lure Indigenous sex workers with the promise of alcohol and then force them to imbibe lethal amounts so that he could molest their corpses.[2] He was eventually beaten to death by Vancouver homicide detective Leo Shannon and Moose Flowers when they feared that he couldn't be convicted for his crimes.[3]
Biography[]
Early life[]
Josephs was raised by an abusive, drunken father who inspired fear in his mother. While in high school in 1965, Josephs stumbled across his father murdering his classmate Maryann in the family garage. His father used a blanket and pillow retrieved by his son to cover up the body, and buried her beneath the garage. Josephs would later burn down the garage, forcing a new one to be built on top of it. (TV: Little Sister: Part 3)

- ↑ Da Vinci concluded that Josephs had likely been killing undetected for an extended period of time. The characters eventually surmise that Josephs' behaviour stemmed from witnessing his father murdering his teenaged neighbour, meaning Josephs' murders started then at the earliest.
- ↑ Shannon investigated a prior case and dismissed it, but was quoted on it in the press. Da Vinci believes that this caused Josephs to alter his planning and begin dumping bodies into the water. The case was stated to have been investigated 8 years prior to the time of the episode.
- ↑ Sunny Ramen and Dominic Da Vinci discuss seven women who died under similar circumstances to Flowers prior to her death and discovery.
- ↑ Given the complete ignorance of both the police and the coroner's office and Da Vinci's suspicions, as well as the number of women Josephs was seen to kill over the course of the episodes, it's likely that his total number of murders was much higher. It's entirely possible that he committed hundreds of murders.
