Christopher Syn was an English pirate, adventurer, and master criminal of the eighteenth century. While at sea he took the name Captain Clegg, while upon his return to England and the assumption of his clandestine smuggling activities he became known as the Scarecrow.

- Onscreen, Syn has been portrayed by George Arliss,[1] and Patrick McGoohan.[2] Peter Cushing portrayed a version renamed "Blyss".[3]
