Cthulhu (Khlûl′-hloo) was a Great Old One from the Cthulhu Mythos Multiverse, a being that instilled fear and dread in those who encountered him, and even at the mention of his name.
The High Priest of the Great Old Ones, he found himself trapped on Earth for eons, hibernating in the submerged city of R'lyeh, waiting for the stars to align, that he might free himself.
