- ↑ Conjecture based on the opening credits; the narration states Godzilla had first appeared in 1954 and then made repeated attacks thereafter. There is then a montage of Godzilla stock footage showing Godzilla attacking civilians, the military and infrastructure while specific years are run through until the final year 2004 is shown, at which point Godzilla is shown entombed in ice. Given that is where the montage ends and the prologue to the film is meant to showcase the final defeat of Godzilla when he becomes locked in the Antarctic ice, it can be assumed the events of that scene transpired in that year.
