Dr. Sam Loomis was an English-born American psychologist, known for having served as serial killer Michael Myers's psychiatrist. Loomis served in that role for over two decades, giving him an unmatched expertise in the murderer's psyche, which he tried his best to use to save lives during the various rampages instigated by his escaped patient.
On 31 October 1988, Loomis was made aware of Myers's transfer from Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium back to Smith's Grove. Loomis was initially infuriated with E. W. Hoffman's actions, but grew horrified after discovering Myers had in fact escaped. A chance encounter with him at Penney’s Cafe Service Station forced Loomis to hitchhike back to Haddonfield. After arriving at the Haddonfield Sheriff's Department, he was able to convince Sheriff Ben Meeker of the dangers of an at-large Myers, causing neither to be present at the station when Myers murdered the remaining police. In response, Loomis incited Earl Ford and his bar's patrons to comb the street hunting for the killer themselves. Despite his attempts to protect Jamie Lloyd succeeding, the child ultimately followed in her uncle's footsteps by murdering her adoptive mother, giving Loomis a mental breakdown.[1]
