Elmer the Safety Elephant was a sentient elephant who taught Canadian schoolchildren how to stay safe around road traffic.[1]

- Elmer debuted in 1947 in Toronto, after Mayor Robert Hood visited Detroit and saw a pre-existing campaign that he admired. Elmer later received a more polished design courtesy of Charles Thorson in 1948[2] or 1952.[3]
- Elmer was revived in Saskatchewan during the COVID-19 pandemic to instruct children,[4] who also designed Punkinhead for Eaton's.[5]
