The Galactic Empire was a human empire that spanned its native galaxy. Established by the Emperor from the remnants of the Old Republic, it functioned as a fascistic monarchical state that sought dominate control of the galaxy and crush all dissent. It was defeated by the Rebel Alliance after the Battle of Endor.
