Gotham City was an American city in the state of New York.
Notes[]
Behind the Scenes[]
- Gotham was designed by American production designer James Chinlund.[1] Chinlund built the entire city in virtual reality during pre-production to allow director Matt Reeves to storyboard the film,[2] taking influence from the Batmobile he had designed for the film.[3] Actor Jeffrey Wright lauded it as "a Gotham we could touch".[4]
Trivia[]
- Matt Reeves's vision for the city has been lauded by some fans over Christopher Nolan's version of Gotham, which those fans feel to have made too unremarkable of a city.[5]
- Digital artist Miguel Santana da Silva took inspiration from the rooftop matte painting in "The Room" for the look of Gotham during the sunset scene in "The Batman".[6]
Appearances[]
- The Batman (first appearance)
- The Penguin
