Jesse "Gramps" McLaughlin was an American outlaw and adventurer who discovered a crystal skull in an Aztec temple alongside his partner Slim Reeser during the 19th century. After killing his partner in self-defence, McLaughlin became a family man, and built a new home with stone and artifacts from the temple.
