Sir Ian of Jaffa[1], born Ian Chesterton, was an English schoolteacher of the mid-20th century. He and fellow teacher Barbara Wright accidentally found themselves kidnapped by an alien known as the Doctor after investigating his granddaughter Susan Foreman, and were forced to travel through space and time in the Doctor's ship, the TARDIS, in an attempt to return home.
