–Henry "Indiana" Jones, 1938[1] |
Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones Jr. (b. 1 July 1899)[2][3] was an American archaeologist, university professor, adventurer, and spy of the 20th century. The son of Professor Henry Jones, Sr., Jones became a world traveller at a young age before enlisting in the Belgian Army to serve in World War I. In the interwar years, Jones began teaching at the University of Chicago, and sought out numerous artifacts such as the Sankara Stones, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Holy Grail. While serving in World War II, he first encountered Dr. Jürgen Voller during an attempt to recover the Antikythera mechanism.
After the war, Jones was kidnapped by Soviet forces under the command of KGB Colonel Irina Spalko and forced into the search for Akator, during which he met his son "Mutt" Williams.[4] Jones and his wife Marion Ravenwood subsequently moved to New York City when he began teaching at Hunter College, though their marriage began to fall apart after Williams' death during the Vietnam War. After some years living alone, Jones re-connected with his goddaughter Helena Shaw in 1969, during a renewed search for the Antikythera. The search lead Jones to again face off with Voller and their travel through time to the Siege of Syracuse in 212 BC. Jones was then forcibly returned to 1969, where he made amends with Ravenwood.[5]
