Sir John A. Macdonald was a Scottish-born Canadian politician who served as the first Prime Minister of Canada.
In the 1980s, he met with visitors to Parliament Hill and related the history of the country. He also ruminated on political events besetting the incumbent prime minister, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, while interviewing modern politicians like Joey Smallwood.
