Kamala Devi Harris (born 20 October 1964) is an American politician and attorney who served as the 49th vice president of the United States from 2021 to 2025, under President Joe Biden. She is the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history, as well as the first African-American and first Asian-American vice president. A member of the Democratic Party, she was previously a U.S. senator from California from 2017 to 2021 and the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017. She was succeeded by JD Vance.
