Behind the Scenes[]

  • The One-Eyed Jack was portrayed by Shawn Asmundson. The One-Eyed Jack was not in the film's original draft, and was created by the makeup artist Emersen Ziffle. The character's face reveal was designed to show that the Jacks were victims of the black lung disease and had suffered the brunt of it far worse than other characters. Director Dean referred to the character as resembling a victim of leprosy, and compared him to Freddy Krueger.[1]
