Paul Atreides (10176 AG - 10219 AG) later known as Muad'Dib and the Preacher, was a Caladanian noble and the last Duke of House Atreides. After the assassination his father, Atreides retreated to the deserts of Arrakis and took refuge with the Fremen. His latent psychic abilities allowed him to pose as the prophesied religious figure Lisan al-Gaib, and he lead the Fremen in a successful revolution against House Harkonnen in the Desert War. Subsequently, he seized power from Emperor Shaddam IV, forming the Atreides Empire. After the death of his consort Chani, Atreides abandoned his throne and returned to the deserts of Arrakis. He was eventually assassinated after making contact with his son, Leto Atreides II.
