Professor Lasky

Professor Lasky was a renowned archaeologist of the 20th century, considered to be among the best of his time. He was considered a somewhat cold and distant man; archaeology was described as his only lover.

Biography

Tomb of Davitian excavations

After the construction of a subway line in Rome caused a minor earthquake, Lasky's assistants found a branching tunnel from their excavation site into the legendary Tomb of Davitian. There they found an inscription inside within the tunnel, warning that, whether or not it was invoked, evil would come.

Lasky supervised one of his staff, Marcus, to go deeper into the tunnel. After going in circles, Marcus fell down an incline and into a pit, straight into Davitian's tomb, where he found Davitian's sarcophagus, and a ceremonial dagger implanted into a wall, which Lasky kept for study.

Lasky would later receive a visit from one of his financiers, who sought possession of the artifacts that Lasky had hoped to bring to a museum. The financier sent a lackey to make sure Lasky wasn't holding out out him and investigate Davitian's tomb. The lackey got there in time to see one Lasky's fellow researchers, Barbara, be murdered by a fearsome creature, and failed to escape it. The creature then killed the financier.

After pondering why Barbara had disappeared, Marcus and Lasky set to opening the sarcophagus, which was empty, apart from ashes and some small fractured bones. After the bones were sent to be examined, Andrea came to see the results, which led to his being murdered by the creature. Marcus discovered his corpse, leaving his girlfriend, Alice, a prominent actress and singer, alone in her home, allowing the creature to kidnap her.

Meanwhile, Lasky, studying artifacts in his home, was surprised by a sudden power outage. He set out to investigate, only to be caught by the creature in the dark. Marcus came to his home to check on him, finding him wounded in the dark. Lasky warned him that he'd seen the eyes of evil, and that to stop it, that he must close the catacombs and seal Davitian's tomb. Lasky then passed away. (FILM: Specters)

Legacy

Marcus attempted to close the Tomb with dynamite, but heard Alice's cries for help within, and tried to rescue her. He succeeded, but with the creature chasing them close behind. The dynamite detonated, trapping the creature within, but allowing Marcus and Alice to escape. They went to her home, for a night of passionate love-making, only to be murdered by the creature, which had escaped. (FILM: Specters)
