Dr. Richard Powell was an American physician who worked at Marsh County Hospital. After the death of his daughter Sarah, Powell spent years of his life searching for occult rituals and practices, becoming a serial killer and cult leader along the way to ensure a fresh supply of victims. After one of his would-be victims escaped and murdered him, Powell rose to consciousness in an undead state, and attempted to bring his plan to open up the abyss to fruition. He was prevented from doing so by Marsh County Police Department Deputy Daniel Carver, who sacrificed himself to trap Powell within the abyss.
