Lieutenant Colonel Robert Neville (d. 2012) was an American military officer and scientist of the early 21st century. After the spread of the Krippin Virus across the globe in 2009, Neville fought to find a cure while withstanding assaults by the Darkseekers, a mutated offshoot of humanity created by the plague. Neville's experiments on his own blood resulted in success; he ultimately passed along a sample of cured blood to survivors Anna and Ethan while blowing himself up to destroy a horde of attacking Darkseekers.[1]

Notes[]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • Lieutenant Colonel Neville was played by American actor Will Smith.[2][3] Smith wanted the film's story to proceed forward from a traumatic event suffered by his character.[4] Smith was ultimately disappointed with the box office gross of the film and wondered if something could have been done to improve it,[5] despite the fact that it was a record-breaking result.[6]

Trivia[]

  • An artist's conception of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the part was commissioned for "Underexposed!: The 50 Greatest Movies Never Made".[7]
