- Mr. Kim was portrayed by Canadian actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee.[1][2] Lee won two consecutive Canadian Screen Awards for his performance in the role.[3][4]
- Kim's character has been referred to as "The buffoonish, chest-thumping patriarch whose chronic inability to admit when he’s in the wrong often leads to easily avoidable negative consequences."[5]
- Kim's relationship with his son Jung was never resolved following the cancellation of the series.
