The Egress is the twenty-second episode of the second season of "Psi Factor" and the 44th overall.

Synopsis[]

A mysterious portal forms in a strange stone archway. Information leak about the case leads to a serious clash between Matt, the team and Elsinger. Can the team survive this infighting? Shocking revelation about Kelly makes things worse.[1]

Notes[]

Continuity[]

  • Leon Schraft reappears after last being seen in "The 13th Floor / The Believer," with this also being his final appearance.
  • Axon states that Praeger has been playing it safe ever since Kelly's death.
  • Anton brings up a possible connection between the Egress and the Argentine Darkness, with Axon dismissing the connection and stating the case occurred about two years earlier.
  • Davison states that the warehouse where the arch was found was only 10 minutes away from Central Lab. Praeger states shortly afterward that it's only nine miles away. Based on Central Lab's proximity to Tessler Industries in "Old Wounds" and "John Doe" (the latter of which established Tessler to be in Saint-Laurent), meaning the warehouse is likely somewhere on the Island of Montreal.
  • Anton disappears into the arch; he next appears in the episode "Comings & Goings", where the subplot of the disappearance of Katherine and Nicole Hendricks will receive some resolution, and concludes in "Return".
  • The last episode to feature two case managers interacting was "The Light", when Connor Doyle took over Curtis Rollins' investigation of the White Crow Killer. Elsinger makes reference to the fact that case managers seldom get the chance to interact.
  • Donner finally reveals herself as the leaker, concluding the subplot that began in "The Warrior". She reveals that the main reason she has been leaking information was that Elsinger has been hoarding secrets, and that she wanted revenge for what she perceived as Doyle's meaningless death.
  • Kelly reveals himself as still being alive. Praeger realises that Kelly has been manipulating him for some time, including through his faked death. With the trust between the two former friends destroyed, Praeger and Kelly ceased cooperating, with the latter only reappearing in the third season finale, "Forever and a Day". Kelly's Halifax apartment is never seen again.
  • Elsinger lures Rollins into continuing his research by speaking about how the arch may hold the key to the secret of the afterlife, implicitly touching on the events of "The Light" once more.
  • Elsinger offers Axon the case manager position considering the presumed death of Anton and the resignations of Donner and Praeger, which Axon last thought was in his grasp in "Threads".

References & Connections[]

  • A baseball thrown by Axon was measured by radar to have been travelling at 168 mph. While that was caused by the gravimetric effects of the arch, the real life top pitch speed is 105.1 mph, achieved by Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman on 24 September 2010.[2]
