Seven Seals, Seven Rings, Seven Brides for the Scarlet King

–incantation employed in Procedure 220-Calabasas

The Scarlet King was a primordial being worshipped by the religious cult known as the Children of the Scarlet King.[1]

Biography[]

Potential Origins[]

Accounts diverge on the history of the entity known as the Scarlet King. According to one account, he came into existence as a lower primordial deity of the Darkness Below, shortly after the growth of the Tree of Knowledge. Feeling only pain from his existence, Khahrahk slew and devoured his siblings to gain their strength. After slaughtering all who opposed him and subjugating all others, Khahrahk declared himself king of the Darkness Below, and sought to destroy the Tree to end creation. At the onset of the war, he raped the deity Sanna until she died. In death, she bore him seven daughters, A’tivik, A’ghor, A’distat, A’zieb, A’nuht, A’tellif, and A’habbat, all of whom he claimed as his brides. He forced all of them to bear his children, and those children made up his armies. With those armies, he laid waste to the Tree of Knowledge and rotted its roots.[2]

According to another account, the King was born from the conflict between conceptions of pre-modernity inherent to modern conceptions of prehistory, and has been continually influenced by the rise of the SCP Foundation, and that other accounts had retroactively come into existence.[3]

According to yet another account, the King was brought into existence by the creation of SCP-140, an anomalous and mostly falsified history of the Daevite Empire.[4]

Weapons and Abilities[]

Inherent Abilities[]

  • Fear Detection: The Scarlet King could sense fear, such as that caused by Procedure 110-Montauk.[5]
  • Name Evocation: The people of Corbenic feared speaking the name Khahrahk over communications channels because of the power it was believed to hold.[6]
  • Reality Warping: The Scarlet King was the most powerful malevolent entity in the Multiverse.[7]
    • While trapped in the guise of Dylan King, he prevented an elevator from reaching its destination.[8]
    • In one reality, he took the time to engage in a recreational simulation of coitus with Earth's sun, in what was believed by the Global Occult Coalition to be a display of dominance.[6]

Armaments[]

  • Ur-Blade: The first blade to ever exist, made from raw conceptual matter. It was sharp enough to separate shadows from their casters, and slice through breaths. It was sharp enough to pass between atoms.[9] (PROSE: Omnigenesis and the Law of Blades)

Assets[]

  • Authority: The King's ranking in the cosmic hierarchy lends him authority over many.
    • The Daevite Empire served the King.[10] (PROSE: Beneath Two Trees)
  • Worship: A variety of cults sought to do the bidding of the Scarlet King.
    • The Children of the Scarlet King impregnated seven women by rape in rituals intended to aid the King, forcing the SCP Foundation to enact Procedure 110-Montauk to prevent the King's emergence.[1]
    • Daevite sects served the King.[11]

Allies[]

  • Jeser
  • Moloch
  • Hanged King
  • The Factory

  • Children Of The Scarlet King

Notes[]

Behind the Scenes[]

  • The Scarlet King was created by early SCP Foundation writer DrClef.[12] Further lore was written about the character by Djoric, who wrote the tale "Dust and Blood", and inspired the conception of the character in the fanbase.[13]

Trivia[]

  • DrClef has stated that the Scarlet King was influenced by an early article that he had come across, "Tree-Like Horns", based on the artwork "The Walkers" by Justin Cherry.[12]
  • SCP-4100 was not intended by its author to refer to the Scarlet King.[14]
