The Third Doctor was an incarnation of the Time Lord widely known as the Doctor. After regenerating from his second incarnation, the Doctor was stranded on Earth without control of his TARDIS. He began working with UNIT to protect the United Kingdom from extraterrestrial and other unusual attackers, such as the Master. After sustaining lethal wounds on Metebelis III, he regenerated into his fourth incarnation.
